Year 5
Welcome from Mr Cave - Year Leader
We are absolutely thrilled to share that Year 5 has some fantastic adventures planned for this year!
From class assemblies to exhilarating swimming lessons, there’s never a dull moment ahead. And the cherry on top? Our wonderful 3-day residential trip to Little Canada! It promises to be a memorable experience where the students will create lasting memories and friendships.
Homework in Year 5: Homework Book
Each week will have a task related to our current lessons, with extension tasks in a font colour!
Swimming Lessons: Arundel Lido
We are pleased to be able to offer all Year 5 pupils the opportunity to participate in Swimming lessons as part of their P.E curriculum. The cost for swimming will be covered by the school, and all travel arrangements are taken care of.
This will involve your child’s class visiting Arundel Lido every week for at least a half term. Pupils will be split into two groups and transported to and from the Lido on the school minibus. Children will be supervised at all times and three qualified swimming instructors will be attending the sessions to ensure children receive high quality swimming sessions each week.
Dress up Days: Ancient Egyptian
We Celebrate our Ancient Egyptian History topic with a whole day dedicated to the study of the Egyptians, including a visit from a theatre group. We ask all the children to dress up for the day (including the staff!!).
Day Trips:
South Downs Planetarium
We have plan a day trip to the South Downs Planetarium in Chichester to support our Earth and Space Topic in Science.
Herstmonceux Science Centre
We are really pleased to offer our Year 5 pupils a trip to the Herstmonceux Science Centre in June. This is to support our Science curriculum and will include the opportunity to take part in various and exciting activities.
These include a bridge building activity, science workshop and the chance to experiment with interactive, hands-on equipment. There is also the Discovery Park and Water Planet.
Year 5 Residential: Little Canada
We are offering our Year 5 children the exciting opportunity of a residential visit to Little Canada Outdoor Activity Centre, Isle of Wight in the Summer Term.
In previous years, our children have had the fantastic experience of trying out a range of outdoor activities such as raft building, abseiling and climbing.
We’ll be travelling on the ferry which is a short journey to the island. Children will be split into small travel groups and have a designated group leader to ensure a smooth journey. We’ll be sleeping in these lovely log cabins. Each cabin has its own en suite toilet/shower. Rooms will be allocated in groups of 4 and 6. Site is secure with no off-site access.
